The ADR 2010 installer tries to do everything for you.
Uninstall ADR 2009
Install VC++ 2005
Install VC++ 2008
.Net 3.5 SP1
However, sometimes there are issues with running all of the installers.

When the installer fails to install one of the Microsoft modules, I suggest manually installing the modules (VC++ 2005, VC++ 2008, and .NET 3.5 SP1), then run the ADR installer. If those components are present, the ADR 2010 installer will skip to the next task.

Let us know if this resolves the issue.

I am seeing this exact error while trying to install Autodesk Design Review.  I downloaded the VS 2008 SP1 C++ runtime from the location suggested above, installed it, and retried the install several times.  It gives this error each time.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the package many times, same result.  Help please.

Thanks, Jon

Could you please uninstall "Akamai NetSession Interface" from add or remove programs and have another try?

We would also like to get the log file for investigation.

SetupADR2012.log in the folder:

Windows 7

C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Temp\AutodeskDesignReview2012Logs

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Local Settings\Temp\AutodeskDesignReview2012Logs

Please attach it while replying.

I have encountered this error> I have uninstalled VS 2008 SP1C++ and Akamai Netsession interface. Reloaded both and get the error again. This was not an issue about a week ago on similar machines. What else can I investigate or what information do you need to help resolve?

I'm having the same issue - downloaded the VCC and .NET and did repairs on all; rebooted - problem persists.

I uninstalled VS 2008 SP1 C++ Runtime, and Akamai Netsession Interface in Control Panel.

Same error.

Here are the entire contents of my SetupADR2012.log file:

Thanks, Jon

Got past it - go to this site:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=10336080

and download the EXE you're looking for, not the MSI.

It's ~600Mb, so it'll take a while to see if it works for you.

Although it took a bit longer, the .exe file worked like a charm!  Smiley Happy

We had analyzed and diagnosed these issues, we believe it's due to a defect with download manager and already fixed it, so please uninstall "Akamai NetSession Interface" from add or remove programs and retry.

I tried on a machine that already had ADR 2012 on it. Uninstalled Akamai, ADR 2012 Visual Studio 2010 and 2008. Retried the install and got the same error.

Used the .exe file again, no problem. Installed without a hitch.
