DWG VIEWER vs COMPOSER

Is Composer going to be the only way to "mark-up & measure" (round-trip)? We have many customers that do not want to create and manage another file format. So right now to satisfy the customer our only solution is VoloView, correct? Mike Gauvin CADsoft Consulting-Arizona

Correct. With Volo View you exchange DWGs and manage RML files. With DWF Composer you exchange DWF files and manage DWF files. Volo View will be maintained for about one more year. Then you can switch to the more powerful DWF Composer. DWF Composer helps you actually manage the round trip process. One other note to keep in mind is that markups created with DWF Composer are able to be loaded and viewed by the new Markup Set Manager in the AutoCAD 2005 family of products. DWF Composer was designed specifically to interact with the AutoCAD 2005 family of products to facilitate data exchange and to improve the Design Review process.

To describe this, a drawing file originating in AutoCAD 2005 can be published to DWF and then that DWF can be sent to a user with DWF Composer for review. That user can open the DWF in DWF Composer, add markups and annotations to the file, save the markups, and resend the DWF back to the originator. The originator can then load the markup DWF into the AutoCAD 2005 Markup Set Manager and review the markups right on top of the original drawing file.

For more information about how DWF Composer interacts with the AutoCAD 2005 family of products, please refer to the topic, "How DWF Composer Works: The Design Review Cycle" in the DWF Composer online Help documentation.
