It has come to our attention that a small number Autodesk Design Review users have been having issues with installing the latest version-ADR 2012 from our website.

We post this message in order to collect the installation issue you've encountered, which will help us to track & resolve these problems. You also can refer to some probelm solutions that are same to your case.

Please kindly write information with below items:

  1. What is the problem you met about installation?
  2. Your OS platform(WinXP, Vista or 7) (32 or 64bit).
  3. Reproduce steps.
  4. It's better to have a screenshot if convenient.

Hi,

Thank you for posting.

From the snapshot you attached, we've noticed that DWG Trueview 2012 has been installed before, so that the installer blocks your attempt to install again.

Please go to program files folder to check if that application exists.

Thanks,

-Dicky

Hi,

Please make sure you get admin right to run the ADR2012 installer.

You screen shot show that VS2010 C++ Runtime had download completed.

Please quit the installer application and run the VS2010 C++ Runtime installer manually.

The VS2010 C++ Runtime installer should exist in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Akamai\Cache\37309\.

If install succeed, run the ADR2012 installer again.

Thank you

Yes, I have admin rights.

I followed your instructions and installed the C++ manually with no problem.

Then back to download and had the same stall after downloading Microsoft .NET 4.  See attached screen shot.

Please help.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please provide more details:

  • Describe what's going on while installing
  • Capture a screenshot
  • Attach SetupADR2012.log file (C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Local Settings\Temp\AutodeskDesignReview2012Logs)

So that we can help you to diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

-Dicky

Hi,

From the screenshot, I guess you've downloaded DWG Trueview 2012 standalone installer.

ADR 2012 bootstrap installer will not show DWG Trueview 2012 install UI, maybe you can turn your question to DWG Trueview forum, there you will get answered:

Thank you!

I was able to install 2012 after several tries but it does not work properly.

I have Windows XP and IE7 and using Adobe X standard.

My problems are:

1. ADR opens a files on my computer and our local server, but I cannot create pdf files from any of the dwf's.  ADR just hangs and I eventually have to go to task manager to close out of ADR.  Is there an issue with Adobe X?

2. When I try to open a dwf from an ftp site, I get the error message shown in the attached file and nothing opens.

I never had a problem with 2009 or 2010.  Unfortunately, I cannot download the 2010 from your website.

Thank you for sending us the screen shot and log file.

The log file show that msiexec failed to install Design Revew.

Please unzip the file "c:\program files (x86)\common files\akamai\Cache\37309\SetupDesignReview2012.msi.zip" to a temp folder, and there should be a SetupDesignReview2012.msi file in the folder. Double click it to install Design Review2012 manually.

Please let me know if it doesn't works.

Ben,

This worked, however there was an error. (see attached).  ADR seems to be working.  I also needed to install Browser Add-on and TrueView seperately.  Is this the only solution?

Hi,

Please restart AudtodeskDesignRevSetup.exe. The application will download and install Browser Add-on and TrueView automatically for you.

Thank you

Please try the following steps.

1. Delete dotnetFx40.exe in the ...\Akamai\Cache\37309 folder.

2. Start AutodeskDesignRevSetup.exe.

3. If the application stall at downloading .Net Framework 4.0 and .Net Framework 4.0 had been downloaded complete, please quit AutodeskDesignRevSetup.exe and run dotNetFx40.exe in the Cache\37309 folder again.

If dotNetFx40.exe still failed to install, Please download .Net Framework 4.0 from http://www.microsoft.com/net/ and install it manually.

4. Restart AutodeskDesignRevSetup.exe again after .Net Framework 4.0 installed.

Thanks

So the solution is to unzip SetupDesignReview2012.msi.zip, install using SetupDesignReview2012.msi, restart AutodeskDesignReSetup.exe to finish off installation.
