issues with Fusion which can be irksome

I am facing so many issues with Fusion which can be irksome, and I notice, it started upon last Update, as before I did not came through any
issue and you guys would not see my mourning comments

Somewhere in the community I have mentioned something about apply simple colour to a part just to differenciate the model, but Impossible.
Then work with multiple fillets and radii, large assemblying, no reason, some forced calculation for complex Loft, period of time to save a

model is horrendous, as well as that I also come to point to freeze my whole system, and recently actually twice I got Windows Blue Screen,

and I know those blue screen is not something good for Win. or either for my hardware. I already have manually reset the software but still

no improved.

I was about to build a case to support my comment here, but I even lost few print screens due to win system crashing. dispite of that I just
decided to sharea bit of  my latest experience. bearing in mind that I have a project almost done in Fusion and I do intend to finish it but I will wait

for next update since I can not downgrade.

Hope this does not offende or oppresse anybody. and that a solution comes up soon, since I still test my might over Fusion and I want have this
model done

Thanks Smiley Frustrated

Reviewing some of the CER's it looks like the driver for the Intel graphics card is dated back to 6/3/2013. You may start with updating the driver from the Intel website to see if there is a newer driver available.

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

Do you typically run Fusion 360 with the "Limit all effects to optimize performance" options enabled or disabled? Checking that option in the Help > Graphics Diagnostic dialog may also help with stability as well.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Hi
Thank you for your attention to this matter, I initially did not create this as a specific thread, since I was speaking-out a comment relevant to other thread.

However, I find it awkward that just before the latest update its all ran well. I do understand that Fusion undergone some changed.

I did as suggested and the results are,

* Not Intel drive was found. I assume it’s all good! (I will contact Dell directly) I actually have run this Intel update before, upon release of Alias 2016 when I notice that Alias Speedform was and is crossfiring Fusion 360, so I can only run one out of two in this account, even I have updated everything that I could.

Intel thing.jpg

* I notice that Fusion Diagnostic- suggest me to use the GPU which is AMD FIRE-PRO 6100m w/ DirectX11. But Fusion doesn’t like AMD it likes only NVIDIA. So, how can I make Fusion use the Discrete GPU not the CPU? (Answer Required)

Graphics Diagnose.jpg

AMD FIRE PRO IDLE.jpg

As on my other old and dusty computer has a Nvida Quadro FX 3800 DirectX 11 and Fusion likes it big time. I wonder where in this world FX3800 is better than Firepro 6100m. Also I notice that Fusion is contradicting itself as in my computer  has DirectX11 and Fusion only seems to see DirectX9. Gutted!

DirectX11.jpg

* For this specific project I have to run it with poorest effect as possible, so the effects are disable, even though my computer my computer and Fusion looks like Superman and the kryptonite. I find this derisory since other software that I run in this machine has NOT shown any warning. Including some render software GPU and others Hybrid.

Bearing in mind, I normally run Fusion with all power all the effects and rarely or never had faced such issue so that I could not even engage in community to assist someone else in this matter. Hope to get this issue resolved.

Thanks again.

Is there a specific design that appears to be impacted or is it all design? There may be something specific to the design that has been impacted by the recent update. I'm happy to look closer at any specific designs if you'd like to share a public link with me.

That particular card has 768 MB of dedicated video memory. This meets the system requirements; however, if the design is complex

It seems odd that there is not a newer driver than 2013 version for the graphics card. Is it possible to locate a newer version using the manual download method on the intel site instead of the auto-detect method?

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

Could you share a system information file from that machine?

  1. Launch %windir%\system32\msinfo32.exe
  2. Select Save from the File drop down menu (CTRL + S)
  3. Please reply with the resulting *.NFO file attached

Feel free to send the System Information file or a public link to my e-mail at nathan.chandler@autodesk.com.

As for AMD card, it looks like you have set to manually override the anti-alias setting in the Catalyst Center. I wonder if that setting is impacting the experience at all.

One suggestion is to use the performance settings for the power options in Windows:

  1. Browse to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options
  2. Select the High Performance plan

Note: In Edit Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings, you may find additional options to configure settings for your NVidia or AMD graphics under the Display node (Power Saver Settings). This may vary depending on the manufacturer.

Advanced Power setting.PNG

An additional suggestion is to the configure the video driver software to use custom settings per application. In most cases, Fusion can be set to use the main video card in the video driver software provided by NVIDIA and AMD. Here are the steps:

For NVIDIA

  1. Right-click the desktop and choose "NVIDIA Control Panel."
  2. Select the View (or Desktop) menu and choose 'Add "Run with graphics processor" to Context Menu.'
  3. Right-click Fusion 360 and choose "Run with graphics processor > High-performance NVIDIA processor."

For AMD

  1. Right-click the desktop and choose "Configure Switchable Graphics." If this is not available, try choosing "Catalyst Control Panel" and then click the "Power" tab on the left and then "Switchable Graphics."
  2. If Fusion 360 is in the list, select the "High Performance" option for it. If it is not in the list, use the Browse button to manually select %LOCALAPPDATA%Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<Build ID>\Fusion360.exe
  3. Select Apply.

It may help to disable graphics switching on the machine, all together or just temorarily as a diagnostic procedure. In some laptops, the on-board Intel video can be disabled in the system BIOS. The BIOS varies depending on the make and model of your computer system or motherboard. Review the documentation that came with your PC or hardware if you need further assistance with testing this.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi

Thanks for the heads up. I have tried almost all of it before again and again, I went through your suggestions but not improvement Fusion still unstable on my side. Here is one of the results by switching off (disablying) the Intel Graphics on BIOS, and left only the GPU.

FUSION THING.jpg

After 30min Fusion Started, Checking the Graphics Diagnose doesn’t seems to be recognising the GPU. Not sure if it’s due to GPU or Fusion. Under my investigation.

no amd drive.jpg

Just verify all the application and it’s all update and Fusion is assigned on Switchblade

In regards to Override the Anti-Alias in Fusion Modelling environment I dont see any effect on its usability in any way. It does for the rendering software but I dont really use Fusion for such task. For presentation purpose it does the job again I dont see difference in Overriding, Supersampling or whatever.

Thanks anyway. I really appreciatte your intention, I guess I will need to hold tight untill something happen in Fusion and be benefitial for AMD guys (Talking for myself).

Cheers

Hi,

In your screenshot, it seems that you have switched to use "high performance" for Fusion 360, which should be able to get you to run Fusion 360 on AMD card. Did you verify it after doing that? And I noticed that you also install Inventor on your machine, can you verify what graphics card is used in Inventor(you can see it in application option->hardware tab->diagnostics button).

You said "it started upon last Update", do you mean the update in last few weeks? In theory, the update we did in last few weeks should not cause this kind of problem since it is mostly a quality update intended to fix some bugs.

Thanks

Chengyun

Hey

I am not exactly sure about when it started but according to my first mourning here.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-and-documentation/insane-amount-of-crashes-with-fillet-and-thic...

Never been left down before with Fusion. independent of the Computer Specs, As I started and almost complete a project here, so I will try to finish the model as soon as possible in

the way I can and if a sollution rise in short priod of time GREAT! if not I am definitivelly stick with the BIG BOYS.(Solidworks and Inventor) and leave the trouble behind.

As matter of fact I have contacted Dell, to find out further details about such issue.  however, I have figured out that AMD Firepro M6100 is actually the Called Intel which one system depend of another. So now I will superclock my GPU and see the circus set on fire.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi @innovatenate

Due to several issue I have Re-installed Fusion and other stuffs on my computer from scratch and double checking all the models created since I started to face problems with Fusion, its seems to work fine now. Not sure where the problem laid, but seems to be running well now, lets see if its stabilise now.

The Installations were:

* BIOS
* ST Microelectronics
* AMD Drivers (From Scratch)
* New Fusion Installation

However, it still crossfiring Alias Speedform.

PS: I believe that the GPU Driver was damaged.

Cheers.

Hi @innovatenateand @NicolasXu

Just to give heads up, since the last trouble, where I did a new Installation and so on, I did not face anymore issue with Fusion and finally the project is completed.

Here is the final result
https://fusion360.autodesk.com/projects/compound-bow

Also, Fusion performance is back on track. running with all the effects as used to do before.

Hope some info there may help others.

Thanks again for the support.

All the best.
