Hello,

So im having a problem with fusion crashing then loosing all my setups on whatever part i had open. this has happened before but it was on a parts with just 1 setup or maybe just one operation so i didn't care.

It happened to me this morning and it happened on a part with 7 setups with close to 50 separate operations. fusion crashed (

error report CER_137268120) and when i go back into that same part it no longer has any setups. I tried to load previous versions but none of them have anything. Please tell me i can get all my setups back somehow.

To add in this wasn't a part that i was working on and forgot to save. i made this part weeks ago and just came back into it. it was saved and the setups were there when i opened the part, they were not there after fusion crashed

This is definitely something that an Autodesk employee is going to want to comment on. To my knowledge however, most of them are west coast time zone, so it may be a bit. I'll just tag @brianrepp so he can get this in front of the proper tech support

@LibertyMachine thanks for tagging us!

@Anonymous as a start, it would be good to get the log files.

I will PM you with my E-mail address

Note, I love to engage on the forums. However, I spend a lot of time in meetings trying to help clear the path for our amazing team of Developers working on Manufacturing at Autodesk. So, if I don't respond immediately, it's not that I don't care.

Do you want another example?

I have a design - 10 or so components with joints, had 3 CAM setups for 2 of the components and everything worked, now creating a new setup & toolpath for a component deletes all 4 setups when I click OK on the last toolpath. Pretty sure bug appeared after the last update

Just a side note,

I also am have trouble with the setups disappearing.  This is usually happening right after the creation of a setup.  It will exit the setup and then on the left side there will be the normal

tab that says (setups)  but not setup will be listed under it.  If you hit ctrl z it will usually put the setup created under the setup tab.  Usually.....

The other maddening thing fusion has been doing lately is :  If you go and edit in model mode and turn visibility on and off in a couple different things in the model, and then come back to

cam mode,  I have been finding that the model has been unselected in the setups.  This is REALLY annoying.  It seems to be able to keep the stock that has been selected.  But drops the model.  Which means that it won't generate code until you go back into the setup and reselect the model again.

thanks

Just a quick update to let you know that we found the cause of the disappearing setups. It happens after you toggle visibility on components containing joints, and then usually when editing a setup or operation.

We have a solution for the problem ready for the next update of Fusion, but in the meantime (as a workaround if this gets too annoying) you can suppress the joints in your model temporarily while doing CAM.

I am not sure if the model selection problem is related or not, but we will try to dig into that asap.

Just to document another case. I am having my setups disappear as well, and it happens right after I create them. I create a setup and click ok once everything is set, then the dialogue window closes and no setup is created. However, if I then try to generate an toolpath, such as a contour, a setup will magically appear. I noticed that if I try to create the setup multiple times (because I tried multiple time to generate one) the setup number is incremented (ie it will say setup3 if I had tried 3 times to make a setup up before trying to make a tool path). The problem is that it reappears in its default state, and when I edit the setup, it disappears again! If I again pick a toolpath type the setup will reappear, but any toolpath that I may have created will be gone and the setup will be in its default state.

I think this is the same problem although the steps are slightly different.

When you create a new operation without creating a setup first, a default setup will be created for you. This would explain what you are seeing, right?

Do you happen to know when the next Fusion update will be?

thanks

Fix(suppressing joints) seems to work but I still had to go back to an older version of the design - suppressing the joints didn't un-delete/bring back the setups.

I was hoping the bug was only hiding them - not actually deleting.

Thanks for the update.

If you do encounter the issue you can (most of the time) get the setups back by pressing Undo. If they don't show up immediately, save a new version (after the Undo) and then reload.

The next update is targeted for about a week from now.
