Animating a Paint Stoke in the FX Tree

I'm currently using After Effects to create a vector based paint stroke that reveals itself in the style of a pen/paint line being drawn. It's fairly easy in AE but I'd rather do it in XSI.

I know that the same thing can be done in XSI Illusion as it's mentioned at the bottom of the page in the following XSI Help File (softimage.wiki.avid.com/xsidocs/2D_paint_AnimatingVectorShapes.htm#Rfr93454). The only thing is it doesn't really explain how?!

I know that I have to create an open, non-filled stroke, activate it with the 'Select Shape Tool' but the part where I have to animate the Start and End parameters is unclear.

It's probably something obvious but I'd really appreciate if someone could point out what I'm missing.

Many thanks in advance,

Barry

Softimage lets you pain raster and vector.
I am trying to understand your question.
Did you just want to do a type of path where the color appears as it is following it?

Please be a bit more specific if you can and I will try to help you.
Also what version of Softimage are you using.

:)
