Viewport viewing options?
I think I know the answer to this (No!), but am going to ask anyway.
I know you can have layers thawed/on in modelspace, then freeze layers in a viewport in paperspace. Quite handy and works wonderfully.
Can you do the opposite? Can you have a layer frozen in modelspace, so that you never see it in modelspace, then thaw it in selected viewports so that it will plot with everything else?
Thanks.
You are correct, the answer is no. Freezing a layer in model/paper space takes precedence over the viewport setting.

Not directly, but you could possibly trick AutoCAD into doing it by making the colors used in model space match the background. It wouldn't solve the problem of being able to select those objects, but you could at least "hide" them.
