POINTCLOUDPOINTMAX - Max Value?

Why does the Help not tell us what this maximum value can be?

What is the maximum value allowed?

I can't answer the first question, why the Help doesn't tell you.

I can answer the second: 25,000,000.

Where do you find that? Trial and error?

Yep. Started at ten million and counted up until I got the warning that you can't set it to that value....been at it for three years and your post came up just as I was finishing. 😉

I agree with what you're thinking, Fred. It seems obvious that would be on the help page, but nothing is perfect.

@Azmeera.M, do you know whom to contact so that your documentation team can be made aware of this oversight?

Fred,

"Where do you find that? Trial and error?"

Hi,

>> Why does the Help not tell us what this maximum value can be?

Command _OPTIONS, tab 3D Modeling

move the slider to the right most position, the value is then updated and you know what the maximum is. 😉

I thought max number of points displayed in a point cloud was 10 million, but I see now that the slide bar goes to 25m.

If I have a bunch of point cloud tiles that I'm generating a surface from, I dial up pointcloudpointmax and pointcloudpointmaxlegacy, but what exactly is the difference between these variables. The help says ....maxlegacy applies only to legacy (pre-2015) point clouds. What is a legacy point cloud?

 POINTCLOUDPOINTMAXLEGACY

Testing this system variable in 2017, it appears Alfred is correct at 10E6, and the Help is incorrect at 25E6.

The Civil 3D 2017 Help appears to be inaccurate and obsolete concerning Point Clouds..
