Line break in fields

Does anyone know a variable or expression to create a line break in a field so I don't get what is shown in the attached pic?

I don't believe there is such a thing. You'll have to edit the attribute width for the multi-line attribute or have a second field for the second line if that doesn't work for you.

I use mtext in my tb and adjust the width accordingly. Multiline attributes would give that flex, by mtext is my preference.

MTEXT or attribute it doesn't really matter. The fix is the same. I can only assume that you're using SSM and that is the sheet title. Either change the width so that Sta goes to the second line or create a custom property for each sheet which is the station value and place that new field on the second line.

This was the very first problem we ran into when we tried to use multi-line attributes after their introduction.  It's disappointing that there's still no support for this functionality.  Editing the attribute width can work, but it can also be a very cumbersome solution.

Yes, using the Create Sheets Wizard is a huge timesaver especially with automatic clip stationing in the title to create many plan sheets, but I will still need to explode the fields now into mtext to get the desired results.  I wish I could submit a wish list to Autodesk about this.

You can, there is an Autodesk Civil 3D wishes forum.  Or you can do it at AUGI.

You can also make use of Subsets in SSM to do this. This is a pic of what I now use. It does take some manual adjusting (drag drop) in the SSM, but it (IMHO) is far better than exploding stuff in the drawings.

Explode seems very violent. Too late to change the template and rerun the sheets?

Indeed, explode is the wrong thing to do.

Let me make sure I've got this straight.  All I need to do is modify my .dwt file like Jeff M.'s to have multiple fields, some with smaller text so everything will fit, and then put the correct formulas/text in when I run Create Sheets?  I am using a template from a client with just one field in the title block and that's why it won't work right, I think.

Yep. It took some playing with the different fields and SSM variables but once i got it figured out I think it works well for us.
