Let's collect some other responses so as to compare and contrast ad hoc
messaging. Who knows what could result?

Currently a Word or Wordperfect template (user's choice). I think the
'forms department' is converting all of our standard forms to PDF forms,
though.

Typically my clients are all using either Word DOT templates or Excel XLT
templates... I did have one who used FileMaker database.

David,

What's your opinion on ArchiOffice? How long has your firm been using it?

We've had it for about 7 months now. We haven't started using the billing
portion yet, still using Quickbooks for that, hoping to switch anytime now.

We love it for document management. Before our transmittals were different
styles, fonts, and all. They would be copied from an old one and modified.
Now they are all uniform and created from the same fresh template.

There have been bugs or problems, but tech support is quick to respond to
emails. They are still new and working out some of the bugs, but in general
it has been running smooth.

For every 5 users you purchase, you get one hour of web based training.
They have pre set classes which allow for all your employees to sit around a
projector and watch them demo certain parts of the software. For example
we've had a user and billing training, and a project managers training on
the 23rd.

I don't deal with C/O's but I do deal with transmittals. We use Word Templates here for everything, including spec sections.

I read that Acrobat/Reader 8 have the ability to easily create forms and
save the data with (internally?) the PDF. Assuming the PDFs are usually
smaller than equivalent Word docs I'd like to switch. Has anyone used forms
in version 8? How does saving the data with the PDF via Reader work? Is is
it internal or a separate data file?

By the way, we currently use protected Word templates but I hate them
because they aren't properly or efficiently formatted and I'm not
responsible for them.
