Somewhat off topic, but..

We are looking down the road at upgrading all the cmputer in the office. By
the time we upgrade, XP Pro will most likely be the OS of choice. On my
laptop running XP Pro, I have noticed that the "Passport Wizard" pops up
quite frequently and unexpectedly. I have found a regedit "fix" on the web,
but it won't stay fixed. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? I don't
want all my users to sign on for passport accounts just to make the prompt
go away...

Paul,

My Reg fix stays put once set.

The Registry fix is per user, under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive. Once a
new user logs onto that machine, the default settings which activate
that little irritant will come back. Just save the Registry hack to a
.reg file and import it back in when a new user logs on.

Or, better yet, configure a Default Profile on your machine or network
Domain which has this (any many other irritating settings) disabled.

I use a utility called AtomicXP to axe this. Check it out.

Thanks, Matt. I read that Atomic XP can only be run on a resh OS install.
I've been playing with my laptop for about three months now, so it's
probably time to wipe it, reload it and get serious...
