Sick of Object Enablers

When is Autodesk going to fix the interoperability issues between ADT, LDD,
and AutoCAD? I am really tired of helping people find the enablers, and
working through the same issues every time we send out file. The enablers
for all Autodesk programs should be incorporated into every other Autodesk
program. They could just load on demand when objects from other programs or
versions are detected. The current process is a huge waste of my time.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, you mean to tell me that just because they
thought up the idea, planned out the software, wrote the code, marketed it
worldwide, sold it to people. Your telling me that because they do that
stuff that it all has to work...? COME ON that would mean that AutoDesk
would have to be a responsible, consumer conscious company...

From an ADT managers perspective,

I have found that it is easier to create an export tool for my users that
explodes all of the AEC objects (After setting all of the appropriate
options, then goes through and sets all of the entities to bylayer for
color, LT, etc... I really don't understand why AutoCad developers can't
incorporate and use bylayer settings for tools like this...) Then saves it
to the requested version under an alternate name.

Now the users only need to open the requested drawing, hit a button, then
e-mail it.
This method also solves other issues that I've had with exporting ADT,
including problems with custom hatch patterns, cleanups, system variables,
etc, etc.

Look at Customer files for a post of the same name.

Ugh, I wish ArchiCAD had such a thing. I get these files that require several
levels of exploding & even though it's supposed to be in 3D they say they only
know how to output a 2D dwg. And those buggy shape files!

How do you handle archicad shape files?

We have real problems with them even after trying all the purge options I
can think of.

I just copy any random shx font & give it the name the drawing is asking for. I
don't know if we are actually missing anything. The shape file is invariably the
name of the project with some garbly gook characters.
