Setup Programs?

We're getting ready to roll out 2004 to our entire office. We use network
licensing and in the past have deployed Autocad from an image - pretty
typical, I guess. But this I'd also like to include some additional custom
VB programs that have been modified to suit some of the new 2004 paths.
Does anyone have any experience with this or know of a cheap/free
'installation-wizard' type program that will hep with this?

TIA

Paul

GET IT SETUP the way its supposed to be and export the profile. Then
install on each machine and import the profile to each.

remove .ns to email

VB not VBA. These programs run outside of AutoCAD from their own
executables. Plus a couple include registry mods that I'd like to happen
during the install rather than me having to run around and import the mods
individually.

Might suit your needs.

Have you checked out the 2004 discussion group? I'd think twice about
installing it at all at this point.

Kirsten,
Why would that be your recommendation? I have seen nothing but praises for
the new version, as long as you can deal with the Export to 2000 situation.
It is a much more powerful and easier to use program. I agreed to wait 6
months before installing it to keep peace corporate wide, but I am chomping
at the bit to start using it for real.

Kirsten -

Rather than not recomment the product with no reasons, please
provide examples of what you are having problems with so someone
can help you. Please do so in the ACAD 2004 discussion group.

Actually, if you search the land-desktop2004 group, Kirsten *has* posted
many problems.

I pretty familiar with the 2004 "issues" and from our position, it's no
better or worse that 2002 - we're talking straight AutoCAD here, not ADT or
Land. I'm getting pressure to get it implemented because we've had it since
late march when our subscription arrived. So far in our in house testing,
the only problem we've had was with the license manager. It seems like 2002
and 2004 licences can't co-exist - but it's my first time with a network
set-up so I'm still working on it.

I don't know about plain ACAD but LDD has several features that don't work
correctly, and much discussion has occured on the LDD site. For example:
pipeworks databases get corrupt, the 3d polyline by slope command has a
defect, any changes you make to your layers will dissappear if you delete a
layer in the layer dialogue box, some users can't export points, etc.,
etc....
