We are only using a multitape changer system right now. We back up
everything every night for a week, every Friday is held for a month and then
every month is held 'forever' on site with a copy offsite.
We are also going to be using DFS before the end of the Summer. It will
synchronize all of our offices in realtime as well. If one server breaks,
the other offices can draw from the servers which are up and running until
their onsite server is replaced. We will have a server ready on-hand
standing by to dispatch to the down office.
We also replicate everything every night and also at mid-day we replicate
the files changed in the AM.
I know it is overkill, but the Partners want to feel secure that nearly no
work will ever be lost.

We used to have a simple system where a .BAT file would 'xcopy' everything
to alternating removable drives. Switch the drive everyday and bring it
home, if the office burned down we would have everything up to the day
before. We do not have an archive system. Now we have a Raid5 setup and we
use this Vreitas backup software. It works occasionally at best. excluding a
tape system because of the cost, what do people use to backup their server?
Thank you.
