Old disks

What do people do with their old copies of AutoCAD. I have a tower of them and I need to do something with it. I don't know how I feel about throwing them away. Thanks.

Hey, that was a long time ago! I suppose I could be wrong... But, it was definitely not as large as 20MB (almost typed GB). This was the first 386 that I ever knew of, which we got in '86. We were the only ones on the block with a 386 for some time... maybe it was 10mb with a 2mb partition??

I hope they're shying away from Hot Glue!

I give mine to my kids pre-school. They make great x-mas tree decorations.
especially with colored pasta glued on!

Not sure I follow you. XT was an 8088, AT was an 80286. First IBM 386
was a ps/2 (not sure I remember model number but I think it was the 80,
might be that the 60 also had 386) Compaq beat IBM to the punch on 386's
but shortly after that the market exploded with clones and specs
starting to require telephone book sized indices to keep track of all
models)

well, ours was a clone. IIRC it had AMD A80386DX-33. If I try really hard to remember when it was purchased it could have been 1987 I could also be off on the hard disk specs. It doesn't really matter though, the point was in response to Tony Burba's post about still having a 386 with similar specs to the one I remember having - and I'm sure that my old one is still being used somewhere by somebody for something 🙂

If you read the license agreement that you agreed to you will find the answer concerning what to do with the old AutoCAD software. It was mentioned earlier what to do legally and should be something to think about.

Too late, they are covered with colored macaroni and hanging in the garden. Just kidding, the disks have been destroyed and the boxes recycled. Thanks.
