No posts in a week?

I cannot remember a week without posts back in the NNTP days.

Hard to spin that as an improvement I would say.

The volume of postings are up in all the other areas from what I can see so perhaps that 'average' user is finding what they seek elsewhere.

This specific forum goes through spurts too, always has since I've been around.

For myself, I've made the switch by subscribing to the various forums via RSS. I find that I see far fewer posts across the board (pun somewhat intended) and it's all but impossible to follow any given thread without subscribing to it and subjecting myself to email notifications for each and every reply. The value that I get from these forums has plummetted since the switch, and I find myself reviewing posts mostly from habit.

On the plus side, the search functionality is much, much better than it was under the previous setup.

Are there any threads with advice on good ways to use this new format? I would love to be able to get a similar level of content to what I used to prior to the change.
