~sigh~ hesh up... I don't wanna hear it 😜

of course, the benefit of working someplace open 365 days a year is that
I can take my days off when I want to, not when I'm forced to.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I don't get many chances to brag about something. One benefit in the
business market being so bad, I guess.

That's probably the case for us too. Their just waiting for the right
moment. My MegaMillions backup plan didn't work out either.

Since I've been here over 5 years, I get about 6 weeks of vacation... no
Holidays technically... any Holiday taken off is deducted from my
vacation time (of course, I work in a Hospital, so readily acknowledge
that most production companies don't work in the same way).

My husband isn't from the US, and he's surprised a bit by how many
companies *don't* shut down for that week. ~shrug~

I sure wish our vacation increased. I've been here almost
13 years and STILL only get two weeks a year 😞

that blows.

I interviewed for a job last fall that I was approached about and
interested in...

they were offering the same pay as I currently get
good
equivalent medical benefits
very nice
401k with matching like currently
excellent

but, only two weeks of vacation per year and no choice to come in on
holidays.

sorry, you think I'm going to work for you becaaaause? not just 'no' but
'heck no'.

I've been spoiled. ~hugging employer~

I can't complain too much, I get pretty much what I want
(within reason of course) except for more vacation.

Ouch. After 17 years I get 21 days vacation, 12 paid holidays and 4 personal
days. But I've never taken it all. Between vacation and banked holidays I
have about 10 weeks worth of time sitting in the bank. And about the same in
sick time.

Of course there is no official time off at my second job. But the schedule
is fairly flexible.

Hah. This time of year is the busiest for support people. With no users in the office, that means upgrades, patches, and license updates can be done without interuption of either party.

well, I envy that... I had to fill out a 20 page requisition form (each)
just to get a non-standard mouse and graphics card. ~sigh~ 😜

All that accrued vacation time comes in handy for FMLA (family medical
leave... time off for parents for the birth, adoption or sickness of a
child)
I took eight weeks off when my son was born and didn't miss any pay...
when I have another child, I'll do 12 weeks off (which is the max
allowed and requires tons of extra paperwork, but, it will be worth it).
My ex didn't have any vacation time, so he could only take 8 days off at
the birth of our son, but, was legally entitled to 6 weeks off, paid or not.

I can only entice you with two weeks after one year, 2.5 after 5 and 3 after
10 years.
