new plotter

it's time for our equipt lease to come up for renewal. One of the companies that has a bid in has spec'd a Ricoh W3600, plot/Scan/copier. Does anyone have any experience with these things? we are currently running a KIP 5000 and an HP4500 for color work (we own the HP)

We passed on the Ricoh because we have a Ricoh 2045 Multi-function printer
for the office that stinks.Good quality typically, but unpredictable as to
when it will crap out. One of the CM's in our user group has two Xerox's and
a Ricoh (the bigger one with 3 rolls) and doesn't care for the Ricoh. He
claims the tech is always there fixing something.

We just upgraded our Oce TDS600 to an Oce TDS700. When we shopped for the
TDS600 it was up against the "Big Ricoh" (3 rolls, scanner, pdf printing,
etc - don't remember the model number). At the time, the Oce actually came
in at about $4000 less than the Ricoh when we consider all the expenses
(toner, average paper cost, service plan, etc). I think a lot of folks shy
away from Oce because they believe it will be too expensive. In our case it
certainly wasn't... Might be worth a look...
