mulit-firm projects

Has anyone used project navigator where they have shared it with anoter
firm. Sending them the entire PN and having them repath it to there
directory, and draw in it. I guess my question really comes down to
logistics on moving a project not nessisariy from one firm to another but
from one server to another, successfully. What type of pathing should be
used for x-ref's. What about the paths that are inside the apj and dst
files. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to go about handeling
moving a prject from one firm to another. Were looking to do this daily
with anoter company and have it get repathed daily.

Thanks,
John

Relative pathing for all x-ref's. Make sure your directory structure is consistent between firms. Relative pathing will allow you to ignore drive mapping/server naming/UNC conflicts.

Hey Brian;

The only caveat to this may be to proclaim...

"Thou shalt not in any way change the names of the Folders! Ever!"

That's the only issue I've seen Relative Pathing fail in.

It's not much fun to have to go back and set them over again. Plus the time
that it takes if you're a ways along in "plotable sheets" dwg creation.
Though the use of Multiple Layouts would have you "one-up" down that
particular road.

Maybe I just need to learn a little more though.

Doing this daily is asking for errors and ommissions.
Somebody should write a .NET application to automate the validation of the
business rules which are applied to repathing the resources.

Can't sleep - huh, Clinton?

Same question could be applied personally though - I suppose. 🙂

I heard Sal LaBella is making everyone in the firm cut their hair that way!

Sorry John... I just couldn't resist. 😉
