Lunch Seminars

I'm looking for recommendations for what to feed people for lunch during
our lunchtime seminars. I'm getting tired of pizza, but it seems to be
the cheapest and easiest. Any ideas? I need to feed 15-20 people in a
conference room that seats 12.

Do you have a Jason's Deli near by?
Wraps seems to work good and people think it's healthy.

I like Dunkin Donuts myself.

We tried everything:

Pizza (cheap, ordered online, delivered on time)

Chinese food (great but $$$$, always delivered late)

Subs and salads (Attendee response = "Meh")

High-end "artsy-fartsy" local cuisine (i.e. sandwiches loaded with stuff you
cannot identify)

Went right back to Pizza and called it done.

speaking from my local user group meetings, I'll second what matt said.

(we picked up sandwiches from Sam's... they were tasty, but, reception =
'meh')

We alternate between pizza and sandwiches from a place next door for most of
my classes. For the really big classes (25+) it's usually bar-b-q from a
local place.

...buy 8 more chairs...I'll bet they'll quit complaining about the food as
much.

Get those sandwich rolls from Costco. Yum. Well, except for the tomato,
but I always pull those out.

We have enough chairs, it's just a little tight getting everyone in
there. I haven't heard any complaints yet, just trying to be proactive.

Thanks, that's what I anticipated. After all, it *is* only once per month.

Well, I'm always in here...
.-)

The only t5ing I do is at home, and by the time I get halfway through
bimams, my attention is off somewhere else. No worries though - I may
have checked out, but I'll never leave...

Don't forget me.

We've done several things:

1. Pizza (old standby; most common with us)...btw, if a meat topping is ordered, then it is the 4 food groups in your hand and hence a balanced meal 😉
2. Pre-made sandwiches with potato crisps and biscuits
3. "Dagwood" sandwiches with potato crisps and biscuits
4. People wanted a break from pizza at one of them. So, they ordered wraps and chicken wings/nibblers.

I think 1, 3, and 4 satisfied the majority and were the lowest maintenance. Personally, I didn't like #3 because the pre-made sandwich I had (chicken salad) was the worst tasting things I've had for lunch.

Pizza from more than one pizza joint (not everyone makes the same), and
occasionally calzone/stromboli (you know, the pre-folded pizzas).

And don't forget the Cannoli 🙂

We used to buy so much Pizza, Papa Johns set up a 30 day account for us, to
save us time and them, the discount rate on credit cards. It seems to be
the universal favorite until you come home and the better half says..... " I
ordered Pizza for Dinner...."

Anything else is too messy. Never provide fried chicken. You'll be cleaning
the grease off keyboards for months....

Beer is a requirement for assured attendance. We did wine coolers as
well.... 🙂

No one mentioned sushi? What, you skeered?

It's easy to eat at a lunch&learn, healthy, tasty, and the "normal"
mainstream ones, especially non-raw-fish, like california roll and stuff go
over well.

If you have any females in the group a fruit and or veggie tray would be a nice addition. I don't know why this is a girl thing, but it is.
Other "hits" have been a cold cut tray with buns, or KFC.
Just keep in mind what ever you serve....
Females tend to eat slower than males. Make sure you have enough food so the guys don't eat all of it before she gets a chance to grab the second slice of pizza. This has happened to me on many occasions. (I usually have to go out for lunch after the lunch seminar)

lol... yeah, makes me miss the other lady in our office.

our last secretary would always order in a fruit tray for my birthday
morning... (still donuts or gooey butter cake for the guys though)

our current secretary is male and it's like donuts and nothing but
donuts... 😜
