Has anyone noticed a serious decline in AutoDesk Support?

Or is us because we won't use AutoCAD 2009? We just moved our office and got some new computers and so far despite our subscription AutoDesk has refused to support a downgrade (we didn't request it it's automatic because we've always been subscription.) I'm even considering using a torrent at this point. We're paying thousands of dollars a year in subscription fees and I'm considering using a torrent.... Way to go AutoDesk! I'm really at my wits end and I'm hoping someone here might know some sane support agents over there at AutoDesk who can get my serial numbers working on 2008 because they're online subscription center won't do it.

So you are on subscription, but you cannot get activation codes for
2008? Who is your reseller? What is Autodesk activation telling you exactly?

That's their job. They sold you the licenses as a Value Added Reseller.
Autodesk keeps pretty close tabs on what their VAR's are doing, too, so if
they give you any more s**t about figuring out your licensing requirements
tell them you're reporting their service to Adesk. Then do it (since
they're saying you have to call them anyway).

Adesk is giving up part of their profit margin to these people in the belief
that they will make their software's use more valuable than for the guy
buying acad off the shelf at Fry's.

About 1/2 down the page is a 1-800 number for the Autodesk Business Center
(ABC). These floks should e able to help you in registering/straightening
out your serial number issues.

I agree with othersw here however this is something your reseller should be
taking care of for you.

You need to change resellers, or go over the one guy's head at that office:
it is their job, it is what they get paid to do.

:o)

If it were siginificantly cheaper I might actually consider getting our
licensing that way. I don't think I've used our VAR for anything of value
for years - at least not since Angel moved from VAR to Adesk. Seriously,
the last VAR that hassled us with licensing got dumped almost immediately
cuz that's the only 'value' they really added - calling Adesk.

Hey, do you know if T5's down, or did I get booted off? (I haven't been too
much of a hole lately, I don't think). Not that it would hurt my
productivty if I'm out or anything - maybe IT blocked it from this side,
I'll look into that.

I have noticed a decline (yet). Our company's support from ADesk has been very timely and competent. Our tech support from our reseller (Avatech) has been excellent. However, I'll still keep an eye out for any decline.

I haven't noticed a decline. But I've never expected much anyway. That's why I also pay out reseller to provide tech support as well as licensing support.

Although the 2009 activation went well. I've relied healy on our reseller in the past to straighten out some major problems with the licensing.

One note, as I work for a reseller, we can not give permission for down grades any more as the new licensing that Autodesk put out is supposed to automatically give you licenses back 4 years in your product so you should be able to run 2009-2006 with your new license manager text file. So really you shouldn't have to do anything except point 08 to look at the license file for 09.

Actually, when requesting the license, you are asked if you
want the current version only or a COMBINED license. In any case, if you have a
previous lic file for the SAME server, then you can combine them.
