Autodesk Animator Pro

Hi everyone!

Recently, I submitted a question about creating a simple walkthru
animation in AutoCAD release 14. I have found a strategy to accomplish
my goal using the outdated AutoDESK product Animator Pro.
Unfortunately, my copy is on 5 1/4" floppies which are no longer
readable. (yikes, has it been that long since we all used those?)

Does anyone know if AutoDESK would support that old product, or offer me
a disk exchange upgrade from their archives. If so, how can I get to
them for that? My retailer doesn't seem to know.

Or, does anyone know of a resource where I can get a working copy of the
Animator Pro software files?

As always, thanks in advance for your time and assistance!

I think my copy came with 3.5" floppys, I will check and let you know.

Are they "no longer readable" because of damage/age or not having the 5.25"
drive? Would getting the files on the 5.25" floppy copied to a 3.25" floppy
work? I've had old drawings converted to CD like that through a company
here in Houston.

Thanks for your help, Brandon!

I tried two different 5.25" drives that were working when I dry-docked
them. Neither would read the disks. So, I can't really say it isn't
the drives, but assume it's the disks. (I don't have any other 5.25"
around to check)

Do you know of a service to recover from 5.25"? I assume that the cost
will make it my last option.

Thanks again!

Thanks for your help, Kent!

If it turns out that you do have the 3.5" disks, and I can't resolve
anything with AutoDESK, please E-Mail me separately. I'd love to make
some sort of service-exchange or barter arrangement.

Your welcome Phil. Here is the company I used in Houston:

If you mean "recover" as in recover the data from a *bad* disk, I don't know
if they can do that. I would call them about that. We had 35 - 5.25" disks
and only one couldn't be read. BTW, these disks weren't particularly stored
very well. I don't remember what the charge was, but I remember something
along the lines of (no more than) $10 per disk. They could probably
transfer the files to their FTP site for you to download. Good luck with
it.
