AEC Project Standards with normal ADT DWG

As a company we do not use Project Navigator as it is not compatible with our EDMS. I would however like to use the AEC project standards within it for normal DWG files containing AEC objects such as doors, walls and windows etc, as the AutoCAD Standards do not check for AEC objects (I have attached a screenshot incase your not sure what I'm on about). Is this possible?

What would be the point - since your not using Projects (Browser or Nav) -
it won't do anything??
It is for Project based environment.

We are more style based, than project. We have rigid styles for most AEC objects for our standard products as we are a residential developer and they are reused time and time again. The point would be to check if any styles had been modified or non-standard styles used such as doors, windows and walls etc.

Even though the feature is called "Project Standards";
it functions very well as an "Enterprise Standard" as well.

Although, I don't think you can engage any Synchronization for a dwg that is
not part of a Project. All of the settings are via the Project navigator. I
see no way around this...

You don't say what version you are using. If I remember right in the Cad
Manager pull down toolbar you can maintain standards from plain Acad
perspective; i.e; layers, linetypes, Dim styles, & Text Styles only. You
keep the standards in a placeholder dwg, dwt,or dws file. They can be batch
applied.
Good luck,

true.

but ScouseCAD was looking to synchronize his AEC Styles,
if I understood correctly? Can't achieve that without the PN...

Thanks Kevin, we are all on ADT07, but Corey is correct, I'm looking to do the same but with AEC styles as well.

A workaround that may be worth considering. Create a project and set the project standards up as you require.

Dump all the drawings you want sync'd into the project as elements and only use the project to sync styles. I'm using this on old store plans that otherwise aren't part of a project.

I understand where you are coming from as I did consider something similar, but it's not possible as our EDMS creates drawings for us automatically using templates. The only way would be to add extra plug-ins as shown in the screen shot for AEC styles. Maybe I could put that on the wish list?
