XREF's and other linked objects

I am using the demo right now and have a question. I was reading how buzzsaw manages xrefs attached to a drawing. What about other linked objects like an Excel spread sheet or links in sheet sets? Will Buzzsaw facilitate this the same way it does xrefs?

From my understanding Buzzsaw will only manage (links) Acad X-refs. It does not manage any other types of links.

Thanks Mark! Unfortunately, I was afraid that would be the answer. Maybe an Autodesk person can chime in and give us a hint to if they will add some functionality in future releases.

Not sure if you have already attend or not, but every Thursday at 1 PM pacific time, there is a free (1 hr) Buzzsaw web cast that covers the software infrastructure. You might what to check it out since they tailor the training to the individuals that attend. Here is the link:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=9262121

Also from the conversations I have had in these web casts, AutoDesk at some point will be supporting additional (AutoDesk) products. Just not sure if there are plans to support files associated to Microsoft Office.

Hi There,
My name is Tres. I am one of Autodesk's Technical Specialist.

Buzzsaw XREF support will find XREF’d Images, Fonts, and Drawings. It will not find embedded objects such as excel files.

Is this a function you are needing?

Support for other AutoDesk products like Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, and etc. Your (AutoDesk) market is changing, but your collaboration support of your product is still way behind. AutoDesk markets Streamline for the manufacturing world, but limited that usage really to only designs using X-refs.

Collaboration is the wave of the future especially for the manufacturing world and if AutoDesk is slow to react in providing the proper solutions, customers like me will go somewhere else.

Mark -

One of the benefits to an ASP/SaaS model is that Autodesk is able to deploy updates and improvement on an ongoing basis without additional costs to our customers.

We take customer feedback very seriously and base product direction from the multitude of users across diverse industries. I will send your request for improved support for Inventor / AutoCAD Electrical collaboration to our product managers. As always if you have any specific requests feel free to send them to me directly or post on this newsgroup.

Kind regards,

Steve Williams
