Where are the passwords ?

Hello all,

I just set up a trial site, and passwords are disabled for other members !
How's that ? Thanks for helping,

Denis

PS I'm using ProjectPoint 2.480.2.27

You are correct. This is a change in 2.2. Site administrators no longer have
the edit capability on other users' passwords. As a site administrator, you
are no longer allowed to set the passwords for your other users. Users pick
their own passwords. This way only a user, not even a site admin, knows his
own password. This is more secure. Doing it the old way, we had thousands of
passwords such as "Changeme1" or "Password1." Our customers identified this
as a potential security hole, so we fixed it. So if you have a user who has
forgotten his password, a site admin can edit the user information and
resend the user a new password. The new password will be randomly generated
by the system and the user will be required to change it as part of logging
in the first time. This way users wind up with passwords that they have
chosen themselves, which are easier for them to remember, and the users are
the only ones who know their own passwords. In the vent they forget, the
process can be repeated. It also alleviates the burden on the site
administrator to pick creative initial passwords.

It is disabled until you enter a valid password. Are you starting the
password with a number? If so, this is a bug that we have fixed in our
ProjectPoint 3.0 code. Are you making the password long enough with the
capital letter and number. You have to meet the requirements for a new
password before it gives you the chance to confirm it.

My concern was related to the "number bug", thanks...

Yes. We will be integrating some construction management form handling, e.g.
RFI. ProjectPoint will also be extended to support the mechanical space --
but you probably don't care about that. One feature you might like is
subscription notification. You can subscribe to a file in Project and get an
email every time something happens to it -- even if the person making the
change does not use the Wizard to email you.
