We were advised not to uninstall version 4. Why? I've had some guys
accidentally do it so does it make a difference?

If you need to go to multiple sites, you will want to have both clients. Not
all sites will migrate from 4 to 5 on the same day. Having a system with
just 4 or 5 on it will work for the respective site. One installation does
not rely on another. The recommendation was based on the potential need to
visit some sites that had migrated and some that had not.
