Regedit

When a client clicks on project point to
open it up an error appears:
"Failed to update the system registry
Please try using Regedit"
Client Project Point has been reinstalled
on the machine but this still appears, any
ideas what this is and what to do about it

Could you provide more info? What OS is being used?
Is it a network environment or stand alone? Dial-up internet connection or cable
or some other type? Has this person tried using microsoft's regclean program?
Was a complete uninstall performed prior to trying to reinstall? This type of
info would be very helpful in narrowing down the possibilities.

Sounds like they need to have PowerUser group
permissions. Much like AutoCAD needs. What operating system are they
using?

When ProjectPoint cannot update the registry, for
example to keep track of the sites you have visited in the Favorites list, you
get this error. My guess is that you are a Windows 2000 user and do not have
Power User permissions. That is required for ProjectPoint. Some shops that only
authorize users as regular users open up portions of the registry, e.g.
HKLM/Software/Autodesk/ProjectPoint, so that nonPower users can still use
ProjectPoint.

That message means that the user on that computer
does not have full rights. That is a bad thing. Not only does it limit you but
the software does not run as efficiently as is should and you could concievably
crash. The software requires to make changes to the registry as required when
your using it. Without permissions you can use the software to its full
potential.
