Project Point Client Shell In Windows 2000 SP2

I had the project point software installed on a dozen machines running Windows 2000 SP1. The PP software could bring up .TIF images and other files (ie PDF) right in the browser window. Once I installed Windows 2000 SP2...that functionality is gone! The only option I have is to "Save File To Disk". If I remove SP2...it runs like it should again...any suggestions for fixing the SP2 problem? Thanks

Believe it or not, I don't think this is a
ProjectPoint problem, although I am interested in hearing more. When you view a
TIF file in ProjectPoint, all ProjectPoint does is create a window and hand the
file to the browser control. There is something about the SP2 upgrade that is
affecting how TIF files are handled. I believe you could test this theory by
using the "thin client" of ProjectPoint which is like ftp, e.g.
href="http://projectpoint.buzzsaw.com/sitename/my.tif">http://projectpoint.buzzsaw.com/sitename/my....
.
(Note /client removed from the normal URL.) On SP1 I'll bet it views correctly
whereas on SP2 you should see the "save as" behavior. Let me know the results,
so we can see how to proceed.

Thanks for your response. Actually, this little problem I described was occurring in the "thin-client" as well as IE 5.5 and 6.0. I completely believe it is a Windows issue, but I would imagine there is some sort of work around. Until a solution is discovered, our workstations will have to do without SP2. Let me know if you can use additional information. Is there no one else that has run into this???

I'd be curious to see how you were viewing TIF's in
the browser window in the first place.  Common plug-ins include Windows
Imaging and QuickTime.  You might want to check your file associations and
see if it was an Imaging/Quicktime/other issue....
