1. The URL will not change for some time. When we started the company, we
had www.projectpoint.com. Then we went to folders.buzzsaw.com, so users of
www.buzzsaw.com could share cookie information. The result was the login
passthrough feature where you can log into www.buzzsaw.com once and then
navigate to any ProjectPoint site (where you had set up a mapping) and not
be re-challenged. This avoided the hassle of all of those different
ProjectPoint user names and passwords. So we changed the URL on you, but it
was worth it. Even though we considered it worth it, we let
www.projectpoint.com hang around for about a year thereafter.
2. At the time we did the ProjectPoint 1.3 to 2.0 migration, we needed a URL
for new 2.0 customers so the old 1.3 customers could continue to use 1.3. We
let new customers use projectpoint.buzzsaw.com and old customers continued
to use folders.buzzsaw.com. After all of the 1.3 sites had been migrated to
2.0, we had folders.buzzsaw.com point to the same servers as
projectpoint.buzzsaw.com. So to this day, users can use either one.
3. At some point in the future, the URL projectpoint.autodesk.com will come
into existence -- yes, the MotherShip is like that. Even when it does, we
will allow projectpoint.buzzsaw.com and folders.buzzsaw.com to point to the
same servers as the new URL. There may be features that you can't take
advantage of unless you use the new URL, but at least your bookmarks will
still get you to your ProjectPoint site.
I am sorry for my long winded answer to your simple question.
