Moving Models between projects

I have a series of models and merged models in a project, and I would like to now move these over to another project folder.

Can this be done? I cant seem to see an obvious way within the desktop module.

Thanks,

Hello, Thank you for participating in our community!

You can’t move models and merged models from one project to another project. You can download models and merged models from one project and upload to another project but mark ups, clashes, etc… becomes unique to one project and therefore it cannot be moved.

Please, let me know if this help.

Thank you and have a great day!

Best regards

Is there any way a model can be moved to a different folder, within the same project, once it was a part of a merged model? The model was posted to the wrong folder and added to a merged model. I'm now trying to get the model moved to the correct folder. I deleted the model from the merged model but the model cannot be deleted because it was once part of a merged model. Am I out of luck? I see no way to move the file otherwise.

There is a way!!!.

If you have Navisworks or Glue you can download the models as NWC format onto your computer. Then in the new project just upload the downloaded models. They will not be linked in anyway but you will still have the models in a different project to the previous one. I have used this before where the client had asked for visibility on the models. I didn't want the client viewing the markups on the original platform so i created a client project and uploaded at internals to that.

Hi,

I created a superseded folder in the glue platform because there were issues where contractors uploaded dwf and nwc files of their models by accident. I couldn't delete the models as they were on previous versions of the merged model.

If you just want to move files between directories in the same project, simply drag and drop them. I do it often. Links to the merged model remain, because the links are between models rather than model locations.

It's a little fiddly if you have a lot of directories though. So it's worth having the directories in Details mode rather than Thumbnail mode.

Similarly you can move merged models into different directories, so long as those directories are in the Merged Models section.

I would be careful about moving merged models in Glue which have previously been "Sent To Field" though, because I've never had to do it so I don't know how the model in Field might react.

Hi @ben_may,

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. Did the suggestion that @MeganH_Skanska and @s.odwyer provided work for you?

If so, please click Accept as Solution on the posts that helped you so others in the community can find them easily.
