CADworx Model Shows As Wireframe

We have modelled our pipework using CADWorx (for specific reasons).

When the model is brough into Glue, only the pipe centerlines and fitting wire outlines are visible.

Does anyone know why?....and how to show as solids.

Thanks

Hello Graham,

We are in the process of installing the Object Enabler for CADWorx in the BIM 360 Glue application. We will provide you an update as soon as one is available.

Please, let me know if this help.

Thank you and have a great day!

Best regards,

Anil,
In response to your reply, I am assuming BIM 360 doesn't have support for CADWorx objects.
Also, how long does the installation process take - hours, day or weeks?

Hi Graham,

As a follow up to your inquiry about CADWorx, with it being a third-party application it has to go through several process.

Our product team is currently addressing it, and as soon as we receive any new updates, we will post it here.  In the meantime, would it be possible to send me a sample file for review?  Typically, if it is an issue with the OE, the objects will not be visible, so perhaps there is a display setting that has been overidden. It may be worth checking to eliminate it as the possible cause of the wireframe display.

You may send a sample as an attachment to this posting.

Thank you!

Hi Frederick,

Any development  surrounding OE for Cadworx, I know the post as 3 years yet, put there must be a  certain demand on that case, since there is always an issue for 3d object files not showing when converting in most Autodesk viewers, like Naviswork and BIM 360 GLUE.

Your help is always appriciated.

Best Regards.

Martin,

We don't use Glue anymore because it's not flexible enough to handle multiple file formats that we have to deal with.
There's still a long way in its development before I can trust that environment.
For the moment, try saving the DWG file in CADWorx with the view set to Shaded with Edges then NWCOUT. Use the NWC file in Glue. That should resolve the problem.
We also have a problem with NavisWorks/CADWorx 2016/2017 and this the workaround that works.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Graham

HI Martin,

I have done some quick research on this and it seems that weeks after the original posting, we did install the OE for CADWorx in Glue back in 2015.

I am not certain whether our team did the same for 2016 since we did not receive any support cases specifically for this format in 2016.  May I know which version of CadWorx you are using?  Will it be possible to send a sample file we can use for testing?  You can send it to me directly at frederick.regala@autodesk.com.

We are preparing to update Glue to use the 2018 viewer of Navisworks.  We will test and make sure that the latest OE gets installed after our teams review current or applicable licensing agreements for CADWorx.

In the meantime, the workflow suggested by Graham will work.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for sending the sample file.  I received it and I have submitted it to our Glue Dev team to make sure that the OE for CADWorx is included after we update the viewer.  The viewer is actually scheduled to be updated withing the next few days.

Since CADWorx is not an Autodesk product, the licensing agreement will need to be reviewed first before we can install the OE.   This may take a few more days or weeks before it can be added.  We just want to set the right expectations and being transparent with the process.

Stay tuned for updates here or you are always welcome to remind me once in a while :-).
