Version 2.1 from W95 to W98 error

I have been a dedicated 2.1 user for many years and want to continue to use it on my new computer which has Windows 98 as it's operating system. The program installed fine and I can open the program but after no more than 30 seconds of moving the arrow around I always get an error message:

SKETCH caused a general protection fault
in module SKETCH.EXE at 0090:000076fc.

Does anybody have an idea of how to fix this,

Thanks

David, there is a patch for AutoSketch 2.1 that will correct this for
you located here:

http://support.autodesk.com/getDoc.asp?id=DL135184

What's happening is that your version is using SmartCursor to display
the function for the toolbar buttons at the top of the drawing screen.
Without the patch that corrected this (originally for NT), the program
will halt with the GPF error message you found. Windows 98 caused the
program to crash just like Windows NT used to.

Without the patch installed, the only other way to turn off SmartCursor
so you won't get the GPF is to start Sketch, avoid the buttons and then
exit using Alt+F4. Next locate and open sketch.ini and set
"SmartCursor=1" to "SmartCursor=0". Save as text only and start Sketch
again.

Without first closing Sketch for the first time, the sketch.ini doesn't
get created.
