Printing full scale in ASk 7

I am having difficulty again printing apparel patterns in full scale. This
was the very first problem that I found with R7. At the time, it could be
corrected by tiling the individual pattern pieces separately.

In troubleshooting for a customer, I discovered that I could only get a
print to page view and even that didn't print the extent view on the single
page. What am I missing here? Does anyone else relate to this problem or
have any suggestions?

If your drawing extents doesn't print on a single page then either the
drawing is larger than the printer page or you have selected the wrong
drawing page size.

There are two page sizes in use here.

The drawing sheet size and the printer page size.

For example I often draw on A1 page size at a scale of 1:50

If I want a quick print for filing I will print "Fitted to Printer Page"
"Extents", the printer page being A4 loaded in my laser printer.

If I want an accurate scaled drawing I would then print "Scaled" "Page View"
to my large format plotter.

All these settings are available from "Print Preview", a good place to
start.

You need to ensure that your page setup is correct, if you are producing
drawings at 1:1 scale that you want to print to scale on an A4 printer then
you need to make sure that both the drawing page and the printer page match.
You will then be able to print your drawing accurately.

Incidentally, I use A4 'cause I'm in the UK, in the US you'll need to
substitute your own page sizes.

Hope that helps.

Lauraline,

I do not have R7, only my reliable R6.01.
My immediate question and that of the real pros would be, how
big are are the actual full scale patterns in inches or mm?
My Canon BJC-4550 printer allows a max. page size of 11"x17".
Beyond that, I have to use a commercial printing service for
my usual 24"x36" drawing sheets which of course would still
not be large enough for full scale patterns of my XL apparel
size. 😉

Does this mean the pattern is bigger than the page? If so you would need a
bigger page.

If you are drawing in inches and scale set to 1" = 1" you should be able to
see if your pattern fits. I am not clear if the pattern will fit on the page.
Your other email indicates that some will not fit on 2' x 3' pages. You may
want to post a file in the customer file area or you can send one directly to
me if you would like.

I have noticed that extent view with fitted to printer page does not always
print the entire drawing but you are trying to print to scale...

Thank you for your detailed explanation Barry. I believe these are the
steps that I am following. The problem is that neither I nor most of the
customers who turn to us for support have the luxury of a large scale
plotter. Until V7, there was a way to output to a printer page and simply
print a full scale portion of the pattern or the multi-page group of tiles
to reassemble. I don't believe that V7 has this option. I would love to
find out that I am wrong. Lauraline
