Printing Error A-sketch 5.02

Printing on a networked HP695C:
(W98)
A-sketch prints, printer icon appears, and ...disappears after 2 secs.
Finished. NO printout,
printer doesnt react. No error msg.

But: ALL other programs print perfectly on this printer.
Reinstallation of A-sketch doesnt help either.

Please help, if anyone knows about this.

Walter:

Make sure you have the patch for 5.03 installed, just in case. You can get it at
the AutoDesk site.

Can you be more specific about what you've done and what you see?

1. Is the HP printer installed as your default or current printer with the
latest updates from HP?
2. Have you looked at the File>PrintPreview screen? Check the Page Setup screen
from here and ensure you have the Size and PrinterPage BOTH set correctly.
3. Click Print from the PrintPreview screen and check the PrinterName is
correct. Then click OK.
4. If this is all set correctly to your satisfaction and it still doesn't print
at all, check other applications to make sure the printer drivers are actually
there.
5. If everything checks and your printer is working, get back to the newsgroup
and relay your results. Someone that actually knows something will pop in with
an answer.

All other applications print fine. Even Autosketch seems to start
printing (file is created and
printer icon appears in the tray) but then nothing happens, and the icon
dissapears after some secs....

Previously, the same printer was connected to the machine where AS is
installed (at LPT1) and worked fine. Now the printer is on a second,
networked machine, and works fine, EXCEPT with
Autosketch.
(Note: This AS is the german version)

Thanks. I hope it can be solved.

You're saying that AutoSketch has a problem with the network. That's a little
tougher, i.e. someone has to know what they're talking about. I suggest you hang
on the newsgroup a bit. ADesk, or Paul Jackson or one of that crowd should have
an answer for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Hello

I would suggest that this is a network problem, as we print quite OK with
all versions of AutoSketch and Drafix over networks. However, we have found
bad power supply can be rather nasty.

Therefore, what operating systems are you using and what type of network
software.

Thanks Paul,

although the problem could not be solved, it is remedied...deleting and
reinstalling the printer on both networked machines, suddenly autosketch
also printed, although no change
in the setup is apparent.

Miracles?

I suppose autosketch is using a different way than other software to
access the network printer, because all other software printed well
before reinstallation also.
Some internal settings, flags or god knows what, changed with
reinstalling...

Let me also chime in here. You might look at updating your NIC drivers. If you
are printing from HP's JetDirect, make sure you have the latest JetAdmin.

Thanks for the generous replies. Yes seems something with the drivers,
but what remains
unknown, see my other msg.
