Opening 2007.dwg CAD drawings with Autosketch 10

I am trying to import architects AutoCad drawings for editing with Autosketch 10.  I have done this often in the past but not for a year or two.  Apparently AutoSketch 10 will not open a DWG drawing later than 2008 version.  I downloaded DWG TrueView,  updated my .NET Framework and opened the drawing with TruView.  I think I successfully converted the file to 2007 version.  When I try to open the converted file with AutoSketch 10 the process goes through Importing AutoCad Data and stops at Processing AutoCad Data.  The progress bar on the bottom stops at 4 out of 10 lights.  When I check task Manager it shows that AutoSketch is Not Responding.

Does anyone have any ideas?  help

Can you save as an even earlier DWG version or go DXF?
