Need help resizing a STOP sign symbol

I am trying to resize a symbol of a STOP sign and need your help. I am using AutoSketch 10 and have selected the STOP sign symbol from the _ClipArt2.SLB symbol library.
I need the resized size to by 4 feet by 4 feet. I drag the symbol into the drawing, release the left mouse key and press ESC twice.
Next I right click once on the symbol, select SYMBOL PROPERTIES and note the STOP sign's Extent Size to be 1.93',2.01'
I close the SYMBOL PROPERTIES box
I uncheck the box next to the scaling factor box on the EDIT tool bar.
I then highlight the values in the scaling factor box and enter =4/1.93,=4/2.01 and press ENTER.
The STOP sign resizes.
I check its new symbol properties and they are 0.16',0.15'.
I have tried this several times and keep getting the same result. What am I doing wrong? What steps should I be doing?
Thanks for your help

Hi,

First what are your drawing units set to? Feet or inches? Ctrl Q What is your precision?

When I check the extent size of the Stop Sign I get :

{color:#99cc00}Basepoint 0.1807', 0.1130'

Scale Factor 1.00, 1.00

Aspect 1.00

Angle 0.00°

Extent Size 0.1583', 0.1583'

Color 7: Black

Style Solid

Width Hairline

Layer 1

UID 2

Symbol Name Stopsign{color}

Then entering the scale factor in the bar: =4/.1583,=4/.1583

then hit enter,

I get :

{color:#00ff00}Basepoint 0.1807', 0.1130'

Scale Factor 25.27, 25.27

Aspect 1.00

Angle 0.00°

Extent Size 4.0008', 4.0008'

Color 7: Black

Style Solid

Width Hairline

Layer 1

UID 2

Symbol Name Stopsign{color}

Have you been scaling other symbols? The symbol bar retain the last entered value and applies to any symbol you drag in. Maybe you should keep the symbol scale value as 1 drop in your symbols and then use the scale command and scale that way.

Select the symbol, symbol properties --> to check the extents to get your values, then hit scale tool, and then enter you scale as you were before before , then select the basepoint and enter.

Or

Select symbol rt click symbol properties to get extents, then rt click edit entity -->symbol tab and enter your scale factors in the boxes there same as you were doing before =4/.1583.

Hello Jason
Thank you for your reply
My drawing units are set to FEET.
My precision is set to .01
I have not been scaling other symbols. This is my first one for this drawing.
I am using the formula =Xneed/Xhave,=Yneed/Yhave in order to show actual world dimensions of items such as STOP signs, pedestrians, and vehicles.
Thank you for your help.

The formula you give works for me with Version 9.  You
might check that the Xhave, Yhave you are using is with the scale set to
1,1.  The symbol scale function always works from the default size unlike
the Edit>Transform>Scale function which works from the current size of the
entity you are scaling. Remember if you set the Symbol scale and then bring an
object into the drawing it and all subsequent symbols will have that
scale.  It can be confusing because scaling a symbol after it is placed in
the drawing doesn't leave the scale at the changed value.
