Mike's Crashing File

Group,

Mike sent me a V7 file to open for him. It crashed his system. However,
the Preview shows up fine. I remember a problem like this last year.

It crashed my system too. Error in Line27. I placed the file in the CF
area titled "Changes." Maybe someone can take a look and try to open it.
Beware of the program getting a fatal exception and closing on you.

If you can open it, maybe you can determine why the crash occurs and
save it back in another format so he can open it. You can upload the
changed file to CF in a readable form if you're nice about it. It's
about 450K.

I was able to open it on a notebook with Windows XP Pro after going thru a
recovery operation. Only about 10% of the drawing remains (as compared to
the preview). Maybe someone else will have better luck.

I thought that Autodesk would jump at this one to provide support when
it's most needed. After all, they have the tools, program source
knowledge, and programming expertise. Without this knowledge the rest
of us are shooting in the
dark.

I took your challenge Harvey....the file will not open in AS7 or QC7 or QC8.
That's what I call 1 corrupt file.

Gidday Harvey

Table 27 is the 'type' table and any corruption here is generally fatal as
merging onto a blank drawing will not fix the problem as it is entitiy type
that has had the chop.

So in short the file has gone to the great CAD graveyard in the sky. I have
seen similar things when people work from floppy disks rather than hard
drives.
