Layer colours will not register

I've been drawing all morning using several different layers succesfully. I completed the drawing and proceeded to
dimensioning. Again competed succesfully. Found a mistake in my drawing and went to correct it, but when I try to
select the necessary layer, it won't work. It selects the layer, lights on and unlocked, but when it draws,it is in the
prervious dimension layer. Tried printing just to be sure. Shut down the computer and started again on a fresh page,
and everything seems to be drawing in that same layer. I went through all the help notes and as far as I understand
i've done everything I can. Can anyone tell me what I've done please?

Hi,
Open layer dialog -->then open current tab and it shows the pen properties Make sure you have color as by layer or it will draw everything by the pen color selected regardless of layer.
