Insert from PDF file

Windows XP, AS7
I'm trying to copy part of a PDF file drawing and put it into Autosketch.
I use Adobe's snapshot feature which puts the selected part of the PDF
onto the Windows clipboard.
From there I can insert it in my AS drawing using Edit/Insert Object and
select 'bitmap image'.
That works OK, but the problem is that the inserted drawing is a "whole"
entity, bounded by an enclosing rectangle
and it's individual parts cannot be edited, neither can it be "exploded".
Is there any way I can transfer the required part of the PDF in a fully
editable format.
I imagine this is a common problem and any help would be welcome.

That bitmap that gets inserted is exactly that. A .bmp, an image, there is
nothing vector about it. PDF's by definition are un-editable in the
strictest sense. What you need is a program that will convert pdf to dwg or
some other editable vector format. Try BING (or google). This also depends
on the pdf, some are actual vector graphics, while others are simply an
image saved as a pdf.

Another option:
DoubleCAD XT Pro has a feature called TRACE that will create raster graphic
(pictures) to vector graphic (CAD) tracings*.
