Importing DXF, dwg files from autocad problems

Hi

We use both Autocad LT 97 and Autosketch vers 6 at our company and need to
pass drawings between each program. Generally when exporting from LT we use
dxf format and import this into Autosketch but we do find problems where
some of the objects are not displayed correctly i.e. hidden lines (dashed)
become full and do not extend to the full length as previously drawn.
Dimensions' extension lines get 'mirrored' or altered and need to be
redrawn. Exporting files in .dwg format have other problems which also need
a significant amount of redrawing.

I wonder if anyone has found ways of overcoming this problem.

We guess that a software upgrade on either or both products may improve the
import/export filters - can anyone confirm this for me? I do not know
whether LT is exporting poorly or Autosketch is importing poorly, or both,
any info would help.

Any ideas ??!!

Exporting from AS to AutoCAD, I select the entire drawing and use edit
entities to change the style scale factor to something between 200 and 400,.
This has taken care of the line problem. Also, I save the drawing in .dwg
and close and reopen in AS and save again to .dwg and this has taken care of
some text issues.
From AutoCAD to AS there has been no issue if I use the .dwg native format.
I have noticed problems using .dxf.
Have you used the patch for Vers 6?
On your other question about upgrades, I have better luck with AS 7. The
export to LT (.dwg) has been improved.
I would avoid passing files in any of the vers using .dxf. It hasn't worked
for me either.

If you really want to roundtrip the drawings, you may need to explode
everything to base elements. DWG transfers between 6.01 and AutoCAD LT 98 work
fairly well when you do this.

For dashed lines, I usually increase the line scale factor before exporting to
DWG. If you do not, the dashed line will solid because the breaks are tiny.

AS to which one is not doing its job..who knows?
