Grid Origin...

Is anyone having an issue with the Grid Origin not adjusting... I'm putting in x and y coordinates, but the grid isn't changing to match...

Is the grid really necessary? Why do you use it?

The grid is a global effect, it won't be affected by any local changes
you make to a drawing. The grid doesn't care what you do on top of it,
it's only a guide. However, you can change the grid to circular or
isometric, and you can use GridSnap to have your entities follow any
specific grid orientation. Feh. In the way.

How do you input x and y coordinates, anyway? With ?

In any event, I'd rather you use Guidelines. These are the most useful
things you can deal with. If you have the AIO toolbar up, you can find
an icon flyout that says EditGuidelines. When you select it, the Edit
bar will show various types of guidelines you can choose (horizontal,
verital, etc.). Choose one and you'll see immediately how to use it. You
can even snap to them.

If all this is too weird, check the Help function, it's all there.

Hi,
If you change the grid origin, or angle in the drawing options grid tab, it will not update till you click one of the grid buttons rect grid or circular grid, so just click rectangle grid button and it should update to your setting you selected.

The only things I see that are labeled rectangle grid or circular grid are tabs in the drawing options dialog box... clicking from one to the other doesn't cause the grid origin to update...

I use the grid for gridpoint snap... I'd like to adjust the grid origin to control where things go on the paper... What's bothering me is that the instructions say the program will do this, and it isn't doing it...

Hi

You need to turn on the grid toolbar to see the grid buttons. Right click on the toolbar aera side ot top and the list of toolbars should show up and you can turn on the grid toolbar. Then when you change your settings click the rect toolbar button and the grid will update... see attached pic.

I recall doing a lot of head scratching and experimenting on on this a couple of years ago. (in lieu of the missing Autosketch manual) I think the answer was something like this:

"Grid Origin" settings does nothing (that I can see)

"Drawing Origin" (under "scale") defines the origin

Thank you very much... When I got around to looking, this was an immense help... So the grid toolbar has an update button, essentially... Thanks much...
