Drawing recovery

I am running Autosketch 6 and had a computer crash. When I try to load
the drawing that was being worked on, I get the message "Unexpected file
format" which will not allow me to work on that drawing. Is there a way
to recover the drawing as in AutoCAD?

Hello Jim

If, under Tools>DrawingOptions>File you had create backup ticked, there will
be a BAK file of your previous save. To access BAK files go to the Open
File box and type in *.BAK as the file name and a list of these files will
appear, and then see if you can open the file.

If you did not have this box ticked, DO IT NOW.

When a crash occurs V6 also sometimes makes an RCV file which it saves in
the AutoSketch installation directory, and once again go to open and find
where AutoSketch is loaded and type in *.RCV

This type of problem usually occurs when a file is saved to a disk with no
free space available, and it cannot finish saving and hence the file is
trashed. If you were working from a Floppy, DON'T, as floppy drives are
disasters waiting to happen.

Paul Jackson

Jim,

In addition to Paul's suggestions, you might also try File>Merge and see if
the file will merge into a blank drawing.
