Combing apparel patterns in WSketch7

I am experiencing a drastic new problem with WSketch 7 and have tried
everything that I can think of to rectify the problem, to no avail. The
problem comes when trying to combine apparel sewing pattern drawings. In
past, it has been possible to drag & drop between two visible drawing
screens or to cut & paste from one screen to another.

What happens in WSk7 is that the pattern piece being copied (or dragged)
appears to be copying correctly, but when I click it in the correct
location, it mysteriously becomes a shape of the other pattern.

EXAMPLE:
If I try to copy a sleeve from a blouse onto a dress pattern, the sleeve
mysteriously changes shape into a dress pattern piece. Same happens when
trying to combine a skirt & bodice on same drawing page.

Things that I have tried include:
=> Reinstall CADTERNS (pattern generator)
=> Disable all snap and lock functions
=> Use dxf, skf and dwg formats
=> Install WSk7 Patch: Sx2.dll from Autodesk

2 files are attached to provide an example of my dilemma. Does the same
thing happen to you and/or do you have any suggestions?

Are the individual pattern pieces Symbols.....??? If they are, sounds to me
the Symbols have been re-referenced with the same name.

Ric:
That terminology is still a bit confusing. Is the term "symbol"
interchangeable with "grouped object"? Each pattern drawing consists of
several pattern pieces, each of which is a group of individual objects.

For example, a skirt has a skirt front and a skirt back consisting primarily
of lines and arcs. A bodice has a bodice front, back and sleeve consisting
primarily of lines and curves. It is a common task to join the skirt and
bodice to create a dress.

When I try to copy the bodice to the skirt drawing, it becomes two skirts.
Copying the skirt onto the bodice, it becomes two bodices.

I'd be happy to send along a copy of these drawings as an attachment if you
(or anyone else) would care to see if the same thing happens with you.

Sorry Lorraine.....CAD terminology must be as confusing to you as
dress-making terms are to me.

Perhaps one of our many learned work-working contributors may wish to take a
shot....!!!

AS7 played tricks on me. In my case it was the mirror facility which
appeared to work on screen but after saving and reloading it had
disappeared! The solution was to uninstall AS and reinstall. Problem
went away. Why will remain a mystery but somewhere AS files can and do
get corrupted.
Your problem has a similar feel to it. Try my solution. Since it
worked in the past you know that something has changed or been corrupted
to cause your problem. A reinstall will at least reset AS to initial
conditions and if the problem persists the fault is probably outside of
AS direct but may be a corrupted shared file.

I tried something similar with a group. The drawing contains
about 10,000 vectors, and there was no problem with either method.
You might try exploding the drawings and regrouping. Besides drawing,
I did learn how to sew, nit and weave. They have a set of words all
their own. M

Lauraline -

Interesting problem!

Lauraline, if you'd like to call our phone support line for AutoSketch at
816-891-8418 we can arrange to receive the drawing directly into our support
email system. I tend to agree with Graham's suggestion above to
uninstall/clean reinstall so the support files are correctly registered. When
you call, ask for Case ID 781065, which lists your posted message.
