Bug?

When using the "Line icon", very often, it produces a "Line segment"
instead...
Is it only me? (Autosketch 😎

Patrick:

In AutoSketch terminology, lines and polylines are quite different. Lines
are single straight entities with a start point and endpoint. The Line icon
will only draw such entities. After drawing one line by specifying start
and end points, the next line alos needs both points defined and entered.
"Line multiple" will start the next line at the end point of the previous
one automatically. You will still have a series of single entities. You
cannot add a vertex to a line. If you Trim>Subdivide, AS converts it to a
polyline. Polylines can have intermediate vertices specified. They can also
have their width defined, which is very good for printing. There is also a
polyline segment icon. This inserts a polyline segment of the specific
width, length, and angle indicated on the edit bar.

You are learning a whole new dialect here compared to AutoCad.

Thanks John for the clarifications, but my original question was really not
about the type of objects you can create, but about a possible bug in using
the "LINE SINGLE" icon.
This particular icon, when used, sometimes (quite often actualy in my case),
runs the "LINE SEGMENT" instead of the "LINE SINGLE" command.
I was wondering if this behavior shows only on my system or if some other
users have noticed it.

Patrick:

I have never had line single produce line segment. Does the Edit bar
display the boxes for width, length, and angle before you enter anything?

This problem hasn't been discussed here as far back as I can remember.
Sometimes anomolies like this will go away upon a reinstallation of the
program.

Patrick
Do you ever choose commands off the menu? If you select line single from the
"Expert" menu and then choose Line Segment from the Menu (or from a short cut
key or custom menu) the Icon on the "Expert" menu fly-out will change to Line
Segment. If you click on the Line Single icon and get a Line Segment then that
is a bug, but I suspect the above scenario is more likely.
