Problem in Englisch beschreiben.
Gib auch die AS Version an die Du gebrauchst.

Gruss von Florida,

Gerhard

Thomas,

What I can make out here: when AutoSketch attempts to open SKF files
created after November, 2000, you get a message, "Unsupported CAD
version, Error 412." SKF files created before that date open normally.

Since you have an update I presume you have AutoSketch V6 with the patch
installed. It could be that your version has become corrupted. What you
can try is to uninstall AutoSketch through Windows, and reinstall it
from the opriginal CD. If you do this, make sure you remove everything
from the task bar and the system tray - INCLUDING any virus software
before you install.

And *don't forget* to reinstall the patch after you do this so that you
have V6.01 complete.

Otherwise I would have no idea why AutoSketch would open older files and
NOT open newer ones. Especially if all the files were created with the
same software!

Yes, Gerhard, this seems a continuing issue here.

We can always use the on-line translators, but it really shouldn't be
necessary. I presume my reading of the question was reasonable but I
didn't bother with translation, just my pigeon highschool/college stuff,
and we can't expect the working people here to go through that
translation step. Neither should you bother. Your repeated attempts to
get Deutsche-folks to write in English seems fruitless.

Since I don't work and rarely ever have, I thought I'd give it a shot.
My time ain't money. It looked straight-forward enough. You should emend
it if not.

I should point out that Anne (the group's moderator) may not be able to
read this and she's responsible for maintaining proprietry around this
water cooler. Makes it tougher for her. Could be that the Germans need
their own group. How'd *you* like to moderate that? Why not? You don't
speak too badly I understand.

One point about re-installing CAD software, Thomas. What I've said
previously (below) is pretty simple-minded and not the way computer
people would do it. It's just enough to get you going - maybe.

I'm certainly no expert here, but I know enough so that I would set up
the machine properly before doing any install from a CAD CD. This might
involve a preliminary THOROUGH (not Standard) scandisk and defrag,
rebooting with no programs loaded in the system tray AT ALL, maybe even
restoring an older registry prior to the defrag procedure if I suspect
some corruption there. You can also fix the registry easily enough
through Windows.

After going through all that, *then* I would install AutoSketch.

This probably isn't the forum for that kind of discussion, but I have a
few (actually MANY) moments at my disposal so I thought I'd pass it
along. If you want specific details (not too many because I don't *know*
too many) you can email me directly and we can go from there. If you
choose to email me, do it in English to prevent any mistranslation on my
part.

Ich hoffe, dass Sie verstehen.

That's the extent of 4 years of German language study 40 years ago. Not
bad, eh, Gerhard?

Was denken Sie? ok ok Was denkst du?

Ach Mensch,

Before this gets banished to Take5 on Monday morning a quick note.
Yes, it has been very frustrating for years to penetrate and alter
a stoic mindset. You did more than I was willing to do and because
of your undiminished knowledge of that language, I have nothing to
emend since you already pinpointed the cause of the problem.
As a German V30 product and a computer newbie, I am basically not
qualified to translate V02 technical jargons. They are not in my
latest 1986 Duden dictionary edition my sister sent me.

If Anne is being paid to be an AutoD/S moderator, I would consider
a similar position in a new group.
(My house and my 1986 Civic Honda need a pressure cleaning job very
desperately.) - If she is a volunteer, forget it.

The error message probably read something like "unsupported file version
412".

412 is an AS 7.x or AS 8.x file and can't be opened in AS version 6.x

I thought that he used the same program to create and open both old and
new files, Hakon. I must have read it incorrectly. Plus he mentioned an
update, so it sounded like V6.

I defer with my comments, sorry for the confusion.

If Thomas has changed versions from V6 to V7, then the error message
makes more sense - sorta.

Meister Harvey,

Okay, here I go again but just for you, friend and tutor.
Cannot stand their conceit and lack of common
courtesy especially when asking for quick help.
He did not even bother to give the version he uses
as I asked him to in my message directly to him.

G

Hello Autosketch users!
I have the following problem: When I try to to start *.skf data
which have been produced after 1/11/00, I receive an error message
every time which reads "Unsupported CAD-version error 412". But all
the data which has been produced before 1/11/00 the Autosketch
program opens without an error message.
I have no idea why Autosketch gives me that error message since the
data are just normal Autosketch (*.skf) input.
Is someone familiar with this problem and how can I
resolve it ?? I already tried it with an Update but
with negative results. Please, need Help right away
because I have to rework the data in the near future.
BITTE HELFEN 🙂

Dear Gerhard Selzer, thx a lot for your help 🙂
Now I found my problem. First I tryed to uninstall the Autosketch Version 6 with all folders. After that I reinstalled SKF6 and the patch. But this kind of way, didn't work. The problem was the same with the unsupported CAD-Version error 412.
After that I tryed to get a newer version of Autosketch. And what happend? The mistake of the Data problem was (EDITED) away. So it was only a Version problem ;O)
But it is very sad, I can't buy every year a new version of Autosketch. to work with my datas :O( THX for your help and also thx for your translation of my Data problem. Greetings from Germany near Frankfurt 😎 Dear Thomas

Thomas,

For your edification and suggested switch to a different
translator you are using, I am very old fashioned and
have never used the (EDITED) word in my normal conversation,
allowed it to be used in my house and am sure it will never
become a generally accepted expression of frustration in
this discussion group no matter how they feel about any
any problem or V7 or V8.
For the time being and with guarded patience left,

Do you have any job openings for me?

Do you have any job openings for me?
If not, could you at least increase the efficiency

I personally don't need it, I have V6.01 and any
