AS9 with Vista

My new computer runs with Vista ultimate OS. I loaded Autosketch 9 (3 times to try to get it to work) but it will not start once loaded. The message is that AS will not install because AcGe16.dll was not found. Is AS 9 compatable with Vista? What do I have to do to be able to use AS9 on this machine?

Why do you people expect 3 year old/unsupported software to work with the
latest OS...get real.

AS9 on this machine?

You can get the same message using other Autodesk products, 3DS Max, Maya, Volo View not just Autosketch 9.
Sometimes uninstalling an Autodesk demo can cause this problem.
I have installed Autosketch 9 a dozen times on fresh installs of Vista Home Premium and Ultimate with no problems at all.
Vista is just another 32 bit OS, not much different than XP underneath.
Do a google search for AcGe16.dll problems -- plenty of references to give you some idea what the problem is.

I get the problem with mentioned elsewhere regarding not being able to start Autosketch from explorer in Vista, yet that seems the only problem.

I'm trying to run AS9.0 on Vista Business and get the message, "failed to get CommCntrManager" before crashing. I'm online and even tried to re-register with Autodesk (this is an install to a new Vista computer). Once that message comes up the system crashes. Can you help me get this resolved?

Just loaded V8.0 on Vista - seems to run fine.

Ric,

I would probably phrase it a different way..... One should be able to expect an OS to be able to run applications that it's predecessor ran. Running applications is, after all, the most important job of an OS.

Sincerely,

Fred

I'm having the same problem with the Vista OS, V9 works fine with that one exception...no communications controller! I'd like to know how to clear that error message myself!
