AS8 Font problem

I have just upgraded from v5.03 and have a problem with one font, which was OK in v5.03 but doesn't behave properly in v8. Font is a TT type, Revue SF, and the error is that spacings between letters varies considerably. Other fonts seem OK - my problem is that I use this font as my company name logo on my drawings, letterheads etc. Can anybody comment?

John,
Does this same font look alright in another application like your word
processor ?

Open a new file and just type some letters with the font to make sure.
Even switch the letters from one font to another and then back.

Then report back to us !

Font is fine in all Word and other applications, including AS v5 but NOT v8. Altering backward and forwards etc. does not help. One point I didn't mention was that, apart from the spacing problem, the font (as do all fonts) has a default aspect ratio of 0.6 but this has to be reduced to 0.2 or less to look something like correct. This effect does not occur in v5, where 0.6 looks fine.

Well, then I don't think I have an answer..........

If you had one messed up, or a bunch of weird font activity, there is a
Windows "Font Table" file that I have seen get messed up. That does not
appear the case here.

looks like the issue resides strictly within the program it looks funny
in.

Sorry I can't help.

Hello

Not from this end, but I am having problems with my own messages not showing
on the newsgroup, so there might be a problem, but can't find it.

Well done Paul! Any idea why? I would have attributed the problem to a 'quirk' of the font (Revue SF looks slighty odd anyway) but never had any problem with previous versions of AS.

I had noticed it previously but until someone else
says something it is always difficult to pinpoint the culprit.

The problem has been reported, but in the meantime
find another font (unfortunately).

Just a quick thought out of the blue - do you have
Corel Draw or similar?  If you do you could use the font in Corel to draw
your logo, convert it to curves and export a DXF, which you then import into
AutoSketch and either copy/paste or create a symbol and hey presto - you have
you logo in Revue SF hopefuly without dodgy spacing!

John another "quick-and-dirty" technique to preserve your logo type is
to open Sketch 5 (where it looks good), copy the text and paste into
Windows Paint. Then reselect and paste into Sketch 8 as a bitmap. This
will preserve the appearance and it can be positioned and scaled if
necessary.
