Adobe Acrobat V5

Why can't software companies work together...???!!! Yes...I have asked this
many times.

QuickCAD V7 worked harmoniously with Acrobat Distiller V4.05. Adobe have
brought out Acrobat V5 and Distiller doesn't work. What I have to do now is
create a Post Script (.pr/.prn) before I can distill....previously, it would
all happen in 1 hit. Now an extra process is involved....I wish to save
time, not waste it. At least Adobe were quick getting a patch out...albiet
whether it works or not. Certainly not in this case.

MS Office works with Acrobat....drag and drop has always worked. Drag &
drop with QuickCAD has never worked. QuickCAD R8 doesn't work either.

If AutoDesk wish to view the log files, I would be only too happy to provide
1 for perusal and comment. Perhaps they could pass them on to Adobe or at
least provide some constructive input....!!!!

I realise this isn't totally ADesk's problem....I believe it may also have
something to do with Windows 2000. By gosh though, I am sure glad I ain't
paying for my software.....otherwise I would be really peaved...!!!

Hi ho, hi ho,
it's back to Acrobat V4 I go,
I'm only a humble consumer,
what the would I know.

Hi Ric

I use Acrobat V5 and Distiller with AS6.01 with no problems, I do print to
the 'Distiller' printer, but it is pretty seamless, much, much better than my
previous V3 of Acrobat.

I do admit not to using 'drag and drop'. Do you mean dragging an AS icon to
a Distiller icon?

Works for me aslo with QuickCAD 7 I've just produced a simple PDF whilst I
am writing this post.

I'm not an Acrobat expert by any stretch of the imagination but if you want
me to check some settings let me know, i'll be glad to help if I can.

I am setup on Win98SE 128Mb RAM gigs and gigs of free disk.

Best regards.

I would think that the problem almost certainly lies with Adobe since
printing to distiller before V5. Have you tried the PDFWriter print driver,
or setting up watched directories? Also have you tried re-installing QC
after Acroabt? Adobe are famous for their ability to over-write/change
things that they shouldn't.

Please post the information from the log file so that I can compare it to
problems I've had with other packages.
