Xref Pathing Issue with Project Navigator

Greetings!

 

For some odd reason despite having the project setup to use relative paths our xrefs are comming in with absolute paths when dragging in from navigator OR right clicking the construct and clicking overlay / attach.

 

Also they are comming in with the network places path ie: \\server1\something\project\etc.... instead of  T:\main_projects\something\etc etc.

 

Does anyone know of a way to correct this? The project's setup includes the mapped network path of T:\ for the contstructs sheets etc. Is this just a gaff in 2007? We have 2010 but the powers that be are not ready to deploy yet . much to my chagrin.
