viz users (material question - gen info)

i am trying to get my company to purchase viz, right now we use adt 3.3 for
our modeling and rendering, i like to know if you are using viz, how
landscaping is handled, is it similar to acad in that there is a library w/
pre defined units that are inserted? also, does viz come w/ a bldg material
library for use in mapping?

It has been posted here that a rendering improvement is intended for the next release of ADT, likely within months. If you are on subsription, you might wait to see that: if not, perhaps your pitch to the Boss could be for the upgrade. You might look through old posts here and in the ADT Wishes Group. Bob

thanks for the reply, i have also seen theories abound regarding no more adt
updates and that revit was going to replace adt

Something based on Revit will probably replace ADT5, or even ADT4, but Revit5 is not killing ADT 3.3 or 4 -- you were talking about immediate plans. I hope you have taken the time to look at old posts. It might be smart to ask specific VIZ questions in the VIZ4 group. Bob

i agree, i have posted the same question on the
viz4 group as well as the visualization and render-walkthru groups, but i have
not rec'd any responses there,  i did a search for viz post on this group
and there were quite a few, mostly related to linking adt files, but i thought
maybe i could draw ( no pun intended ) a response from a viz user, but no luck

Landscaping... there is not a library of objects or materials. You'll have to create or buy your own (just keep in mind polygon counts). Viz does come with libraries of materials for mapping but in my opinion they need a lot of work (too much tiling for one thing). I would not call Viz a program that you can just jump into head first. I'd suggest paying a visit to your local retailer...
